How To Take The Stress Our Of Running A Car

Two focuses of my blog are Health/Wellness and Technology. An important piece of technology most of us own and invest copious sums of money in is our cars. While transportation is a cost no matter what market you live in, cars can be a major source of stress as there are hidden costs in them. The following contributed post is entitled, How To Take The Stress Our Of Running A Car.

Many of us rely on cars to get to work, travel and see friends and family. Although driving can be fun, and it’s a convenient way to get around, running a car can be stressful. In this guide, we’ll explore some effective solutions to take the hassle out of owning a car.

Maintenance
Car maintenance should be a priority for every driver, but it can fall by the wayside when life gets hectic. If you can’t remember the last time you checked your tires or your oil, now is the time to start looking after your car. Basic maintenance can reduce the risk of breaking down and it can also prolong the lifespan of your vehicle and lower costs in the future. It’s particularly important to check your car on a regular basis during the winter months and before you set off on a long journey. Make sure you have enough fuel in the tank, check the tire pressure and tread and top up your oil and water levels. It’s wise to book services frequently to ensure that any problems are identified and addressed quickly.

Replacing parts
Many of us drive around without a care in the world, assuming that our cars will never let us down. The truth is that even the most reliable vehicle may need some TLC along the way. It’s crucial to take good care of your car, but also to seek advice and consider replacing parts such as coil springs or brake pads if there are warning lights on the display, you notice strange noises or odors, or you want to enhance the performance of your vehicle. There are some jobs you can do yourself, but if you have concerns or the task is more complex, seek expert advice.

Shop around to save money
Cost is one of the most significant sources of stress for drivers. It can be expensive to keep a car on the road. If you are trying to save, there are various steps you can take. Investing in maintenance work will save you money in the long-run, but you can also shop around for insurance and reduce expenses by buying a fuel-efficient vehicle. If your insurance is due for renewal, don’t automatically roll the policy over until you’ve compared the offer to deals from other providers. You can use the Internet to search for policies in a matter of seconds, and you could save a fortune.

Drive carefully
Driving can be dangerous, and thousands of people are injured in crashes every year. To lower the risk of collisions and make driving more enjoyable, keep your eyes on the road at all times, give other vehicles time and space, pay attention to the speed limit and take extra care if the road is slippery, it’s raining heavily or visibility is poor.

While you may not be out and about during the lockdown and unable to meet up with people in-person, it is essential to connect with others during this time. With extra time spent at home, you may find that you have the opportunity to get back in touch with family members and friends that you don’t usually have the time to speak with.

Reconnecting with loved ones and learning new things will certainly keep you busy while at home.

Why Women Should Participate More Often In Golf

Two focuses of my blog are Athletics/Sports and Health/Wellness. Many people find out that they actually enjoy the game of golf for numerous reasons. It’s classically been considered a men’s sport but more and more women are starting to play golf both professionally and leisurely. The following contributed post is entitled, Why Women Should Participate More Often In Golf.

On June 6, the International Day of Women who play golf, was celebrated in 46 countries. This day was created to celebrate all the female players in this sport and give them visibility within the industry. If we ask ourselves how many times we have seen images of women practising golf, the almost certain answer would be none.

Today it is no secret that women are increasingly climbing more positions in all areas of human development as women carry out such a wide range of activities today. Men often dominate the world of sport, and this stigma is something that should be eradicated in modern times. Women can certainly demonstrate what they are capable of achieving. Today we know a sports world full mostly of men, but it is also known that gender differences have been decreasing, with fewer spaces between women and men. It is seen with football, basketball and others. The world of golf is also one of them. Here are some of the most important reasons why women should practice golf. Once these practices are set firmly in our minds, it will be difficult to stop playing.

1. Golf is an ideal sport to keep fit. Golf is a medium intensity activity in which the joints do not suffer. Also, it is good to maintain the muscles and to fight against the loss of bone mass. And best of all, it helps your cardiovascular health!

2. There are usually numerous golf clubs in and around your area where you can practice it.

3. Golf is a great way to relieve stress. Besides, it improves concentration, which carried to other areas of life, can become an important weapon.

4. Playing golf, and in general, any physical activity favors the generation of endorphins that provides a feeling of well-being.

5. It is an ideal sport to practice with friends, family, co-workers. It allows you to do a different and exciting activity. Competition can be very positive.

6. It will aid sleep and help you rest better. Playing golf will allow you to have a more restful and effective rest.

7. It gives you the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor activity with all the benefits that they entail.

8. And as women, one of the most important reasons is fashion. Despite being with a look that is not at all executive or casual, the dress code and appropriate dress for women golfers are both sophisticated and stylish. It allows you to learn about sporting fashion and purchase some incredible women’s golf clothing.

Many women today feel so sure of themselves, and all admire their high level of play. The golfing world is not just limited to sport. It can become a place of socializing too. Women are likely to invite their boyfriends or spouses to join them. Golf clubs are also a great place to meet like minded people who share similar interests. Let’s also remember that an 18-hole course can last more than 4 hours and also, so it is a way to unwind and the time dedicated to the sport should be paramount.

Looking After Yourself Is About More Than Eating Well

A key focus of my blog is Health/Wellness. A lot of people think that your health is related strictly to diet. While there is a dietary component involved, there are other keys as well. The following contributed post is entitled, Looking After Yourself Is About More Than Eating Well.

* * *

We all know that we need to look after ourselves, but some people seem to think that eating well is where this ends. As if somehow eating well is going to sort out any and all issues that you may have and keep you in the best possible health. Of course, eating well is important to keeping yourself healthy, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing you should be doing. In this article, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the other things that you should be doing. Keep reading down below if you would like to find out more.

You’ve Got To Exercise

The first thing that we’re going to mention is that you’ve got to exercise. Some people seem to be under the impression that exercise is only important if you’re trying to lose weight or have some other kind of fitness goal. This is not true because exercise is essential for keeping yourself healthy no matter what. It’s not a good idea to get into the mindset that you don’t need to be active because you do. However, this doesn’t mean that you need to get up and go to the gym five days per week, completing intense cardio every time. Exercise could be anything from walking for thirty minutes to swimming for half an hour. There are so many different ways to ensure that your body is staying active, so find one that you enjoy.

Think About Your Life Path

Another thing that you need to do is think about the path that you want to be on. It doesn’t matter what path you choose to go down, as long as you know roughly where you are headed in terms of your health. For example, if you are not ready to have a baby right now, you need to make sure that you are using contraception to avoid this happening. Or, if you know that you have some kind of health condition that needs medication to keep it managed, you’ve got to ensure that you’re taking it.

Don’t Isolate Yourself

CC0 Licence – Picture Link

The final thing that we’re going to mention is the fact that you shouldn’t isolate yourself. This is bad for your mental health as it can push you into feeling as though you are alone, even when you’re not. Your mental health needs to be looked after as much as your physical health does, so ensure that when things feel like they are getting tough, you seek out the help that you need. Notice the signs that you’re starting to slip and acknowledge that they are there. Don’t try to hide from them because this is only going to make things worse.

We hope that you have found this article helpful and now have a better understanding as to some of the things that you should be doing to look after yourself. Make sure that you are eating well, but don’t forget about the things on this list as well. Good luck.

Tips To Keep Your Staff Safe In The Workplace

A key focus of my blog is Health/Wellness and Organizational/Management Discussions. If you’re a business owner or in management, a key objective of yours should be to keep your employees and your workplace safe. The following contributed post is entitled, Tips To Keep Your Staff Safe In The Workplace.

* * *

Your staff’s safety in the workplace should certainly be the main priority of yours. When it comes to your workplace, you have a responsibility to your employees in making sure that where they’re working is safe and isn’t going to bring or cause them harm in any way. With that said, here are some tips to keep your staff safe in the workplace.

Put Safety Measures In Place

Safety measures are a great way of ensuring that your staff is being looked after and that there are precautions in place to help avoid injury altogether. This might be in the form of signs and warnings that are placed around the worksite or office, for example. You may want to introduce everyone that comes into the company with an office safety training pack or to have either your HR or operations manager train the staff member in the basics of keeping safe in the office. There are lots of different measures you can take to ensure that your staff is being looked after and it’s up to you as the employer to make sure that these expectations are being met at all times. If not, then you could be liable for legal cases where a staff member has been injured to a lack of safety precautions in place. That’s not a situation you should want to find yourself in.

Have The Right Protective Gear

The right protective gear is important when it comes to keeping safe, and with medical supplies being in demand at the moment due to COVID, this should be a reminder that our health is important. Look at what you might be lacking when it comes to protective gear not only for general work tasks but also those areas of the business where staff might be working with particular machinery that can also pose a danger.

Educate Your Employees

As much as you have a responsibility to your staff, they also have a responsibility for their own wellbeing and that of their colleagues. With that being said, it’s good if you can offer them any additional training that you think they might need when it comes to them staying safe within the workplace. There’s plenty of basic training courses that could be useful for them as well as common courses like First Aid Training, etc. It’s important you have some sort of budget when it comes to staff training.

Encourage Regular Breaks

Regular breaks are a must, and so it’s worth making sure each and every staff member is getting the breaks they need throughout the day. Be strict on ensuring they’re getting up from their desk and not spending their lunch breaks eating in front of their computer. Be the encouragement they need to take a proper break and to ensure regular breaks are also taken throughout the course of the working day.

Safety in the workplace is paramount, so be sure to check that every staff member is ok and that you’re doing all you can for their safety.

Stop Being Tired: Making the Right Fixes

A key focus of my blog is Health/Wellness. With our increased technology and more efficient lives, many people are neglecting sleep which is a key component of our person health. Without proper sleep, our bodies open up to a host of maladies. The following contributed post is entitled, Stop Being Tired: Making the Right Fixes.

Despite the pandemic that everybody is living through, there is still something that we all appear to suffer from which is impacting most of our lives, and it seems it’s always been there. Being tired, exhausted, or fatigue are all aspects that every single one of us suffers from on occasion, or more likely, is endemic through our lives. It seems that learning to prioritize sleep is very low on the agenda. And it is hardly a surprise because there are so many people that are told they have to prioritize their jobs or they worry about so many different aspects of their lives, sleep is very low on the agenda. We need to prioritize this but what else do we need to consider when we are learning to overcome any form of exhaustion?

Reducing Use of the Dreaded Mobile Device
It’s something that we all need to use at arm’s length. It’s something that is hardly out of our peripheries. When you consider road accidents fatalities in the US in 2018, 2.1% of drivers were visibly manipulating hand-held devices while driving. If it’s such a priority to use your phone while you are driving, this says a lot about your relationship with this device. There’s a lot to be said for what a mobile device can do for us in our lives but we can’t seem to remove it from our lives at all.

Because there are so many issues associated with excessive mobile phone use, not just depression or anxiety which can impact sleep, but also the fact that the blue light interrupts our sleep hormone, melatonin, we need to figure out a way to improve a relationship with this device. You could take inspiration from the former leader of the Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington, who completely bans her phone from the bedroom, or you can find the right balance.

When we compare the happiness of people in the modern-day to 20 years ago, the one major difference is that mobile phones were not widespread. Now, they are everywhere and depression is creeping up, especially in younger people. Removing the device from your life is hard work, but it is possible to have a good working relationship with this device. But much like any addiction, you may need to go cold turkey first.

Addressing Your Attitudes to Stress
When we feel tired constantly, we’ve got to address fatigue in all of its forms. When we feel tired in every aspect of our lives, it’s not just about energizing ourselves but it’s about looking at the habits we undertake that exhaust us. Rather than focusing on one big habit, it may very well be a combination of factors that make you feel tired physically, mentally, and emotionally. This is why we’ve got to prioritize stress reduction as a daily habit. It could be through incorporating breathing exercises or meditation, but it may also be about learning how to not sweat the small stuff. This goes back to what our phones do for us.

We are exposed to other people’s lives constantly and our thoughts can get carried away with us, especially when we think that we are not leading our best life. When we start to compare ourselves unfavorably to others, or we think that we should be doing more, this emotional and mental fatigue clouds our lives. It can manifest itself in other ways, not just tiredness. You may very well think that you’ve got an allergy to something or you may mistakenly assume that you are tired for a completely different reason.

Because mental fatigue is something that can stay with us for a long time, it becomes a part of who we are. Therefore, we don’t necessarily notice that we have any problem. The best thing that we can all do is understand what stress is doing to us as individuals. This means we’ve got to check into ourselves and begin the process of either removing stressful components from our lives that we didn’t consider to be exhausting or realizing that there are habits we do without thinking they are bad for us. This is something we may consider just to be associated with feeling physically tired, but this is a problem that can compound as we get older. Being tired is not necessarily a bad thing, but when we feel like it constantly, this is when it is imperative that we address the fundamentals underneath it.

Being tired isn’t a way of life, yet so many people constantly talk about feeling like this. While you may think it’s about making the right fixes, it’s also about addressing what is underneath this.

10 Investment Tips for a Successful Retirement

Two key focuses of my blog are Financial Literacy/Money and Health/Wellness. As an employee, a key pillar of your financial plan and life should be your retirement savings. If you haven’t started, take the tips in this piece seriously. If you’ve already started, it’s always good to relearn and or solidify what you know. The following contributed post is entitled, 10 Investment Tips for a Successful Retirement.

It might seem like a long way off but the earlier you think about saving for your retirement the better. Even if you simply want to start investing to give you a more comfortable life in the future, this is a good attitude to have. It’s also important to define your goals and budget and understand your options. There are several ways you can ensure yourself more financial security and with a little investment experience and know-how, you can even make a bit of money on the side. Here are ten investment tips for a successful retirement.

Get started early

The earlier the better. Even if retirement seems impossible to contemplate right now, you’re never too young to start investing in your future. This way you’ll be able to make saving and investing a lifelong habit and you’ll develop plenty of skills and knowledge along the way.

Understand the types of retirement plan

It’s vital to understand your taxes and what you’ll be entitled to. There are different types of retirement accounts and some are taxable and others tax-advantaged. Many people aren’t aware of the types of retirement plans available to them and how they work according to taxes. It’s a good idea to inform yourself about IRAs and 401ks along with company plans and pension schemes, so you understand all the options available to you.

Consider different investment options

Once you’ve got your head around the traditional investment options you can branch out and look for other opportunities. For example, investing in gold and silver has been proven to be very lucrative. This is due to the fact that precious metals aren’t as affected by the change in geopolitical circumstances in the same way that local currencies are. Before you invest in anything new, however, make sure you get as informed as possible and think it through carefully.

Diversify your investment portfolio

If you’re seriously interested in branching out and investing, you should always keep your options open by diversifying your portfolio. This is based on the idea of not putting all your eggs in one basket. Ideally, a balanced portfolio should have a mix of various assets such as stocks, fixed income, and commodities. These will all react differently to the same economic event, thus giving you more options. Also, rebalance your portfolio at least once a year. You want the right combination of stocks, bonds, and cash for your investment goals. Make changes by buying and selling shares to rebalance your portfolio.

Calculate your net worth

If you’re getting into investing, it’s also a good idea to calculate your net worth. You can do this easily online with a net worth calculator. Your net worth is figured out by calculating the difference between the assets you own and the liabilities you owe. These can include all your investments from property to company stocks and your other financial assets. Any debts will be counted as liabilities such as your mortgage, student loan, medical bills, and credit cards.

Clear your debts

Before you start investing for your retirement, it’s ideal to be in the best financial position possible. If you have any debts, don’t worry, you’re in the majority of the population, but it’s advisable to clear these before you invest. You can get professional advice online to help you choose the appropriate debt management plan. Once you’ve cleared your debts you’ll be in a better place to start investing. Certain debts are considered “better” than others, for example, it’s not a problem to have a mortgage or student loan outstanding.

Seek professional advice

It’s always recommended to seek investment advice, even if you’re an experienced investor. This way you’ll get all the information you need so you can start preparing for a successful retirement in the future. You can also get investment and other financial advice from apps known as robo-advisors. This is a great option if you haven’t got the time or money to sit down with a financial advisor every so often, but the service they provide is slightly less personalized.

Make a realistic budget

Once you’ve got as informed as possible you can finally include your savings and investments as part of a realistic budget. There are apps for this too and the latest budgeting apps can help you organize your personal finances. The most important thing is that you actually stick to your budget. If you’re finding that you aren’t able to do this then you probably need to reevaluate your budget to make it more realistic with your spending. You could alternatively look for ways to cut down on your spending. Ensure that you are always able to live within your means and put your savings to one side first.

Don’t let your emotions take over

When you’re investing or making financial plans for your future, try not to let your emotions take over. This might lead to you making poor decisions without thinking things through logically. Take your time, particularly with new investments, and never jump on the back of a fad without doing your research first. If a new investment sounds too good to be true then it probably is. Financial discipline is very important when dealing with the stock market and it’s crucial to keep a level head at all times. It’s very unpredictable and difficult to follow as it is.

Always have a backup

In order to ensure financial wellness, it’s always a good idea to have a backup. Create a contingency plan in the unfortunate case that you lose your job or are forced to take a pay cut. In these difficult times, anything is possible, so the more prepared you are the better. It’s advisable to keep some savings for emergency purposes, rather than investing them all, for example. You’ll have more peace of mind knowing that this buffer is there to get you out of a sticky situation if need be. With a backup plan in place, you can focus on investing for a successful retirement.

5 Skills You Should Learn In Life

Two focuses of my blog are Creating Ecosystems of Success and Health/Wellness. Even before the Coronavirus/Covid-19 pandemic, there were a set of specific essential skills that everyone should’ve had some comfort level with, skills that are now more important than ever. The following contributed post is entitled, 5 Skills You Should Learn In Life.

Image by Steve Buissinne from Pixabay

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that you never know what is around the corner, and it is important to be prepared for anything. How many people were thrown into the world of homeschooling this year? Or having to do more cooking as they had to stay inside more? Or what about those who have lost their jobs but used their other skills to make money or to help out with the pandemic? It’s so useful to have life skills as you never know when they might come in handy. Right now, if you’re spending more time at home, then it’s the perfect time to learn a new skill.

Cooking
You don’t need to be a Michelin starred chef, and while it’s absolutely fine to order takeaways every now and again and pop a ready meal in the microwave, it’s also really useful to be able to make just a couple of easy meals. There are loads of recipes you can make, which don’t require much effort, and these days with frozen or chopped vegetables, you don’t even have to do much preparation. It’s good to know that your family is eating healthily and that you know what is in their meals. Find your family favorites and begin with cooking those, and you’ll soon get that hang of what ingredients work well together, and you’ll build your confidence to be more adventurous.

Survival Skills
Survival information is important in todays’ world. With more people now taking staycations and doing activities such as camping for their holidays, having survival skills can mean a safer but also a more fun time.

Sewing
When you lose a button or have a hole in your jumper, do you know what to do, or do you just throw your clothes out? Having sewing skills means you don’t have to go out and buy new ones, but you can fix your favorite clothes. Now that’s just if you learn the essentials, but knowing how to make a dress or like in the recent months, those people who are a dab hand at sewing have been so helpful making scrubs for the NHS and making money from making pretty masks for people.

First Aid
Do you know what to do if someone has an accident? Or if someone is choking? Or even just if they have fallen over and are bleeding? Do you know the signs of a heart attack or stroke? It’s so handy to have the basic skills for your family’s safety and for your own. You can pick up a basic first aid book or sign up for some classes if you want to learn more and make sure you get it right.

DIY
DIY skills can be a very useful set of skills, not just for your own home, but it is something you can make money from too. People always need home repair, and if you know what to do, then you could be very popular. There are plenty of youtube videos available on how to DIY, so not only will you learn something new, fix something that is broken but also enjoy the satisfaction that comes with doing it yourself.

Helping Older People Choose The Right Mobile Phone

Two key focuses of my blog are Health/Wellness and Technology. Mobile phones have now become a part of our everyday lives. While the younger generations can and will adapt more easily to the technology, it can be a daunting task for the older generations. The following contributed post is entitled, Helping Older People Choose The Right Mobile Phone.

* * *

A mobile phone is an everyday essential item that lets you stay in touch with family and friends. Some older people may have put off getting a mobile phone for many years, but now more than ever, it’s important to stay in contact with each other. Choosing a mobile phone can be hard as there are many devices to select from. If you are helping an older person choose a new phone, there are some things to consider.

Although there are many models available, there are two main types of phones to choose from, cell phones and smartphones. Cell phones have features that are designed to help older people, like emergency buttons, hearing aid support, and GPS tracking. The buttons are considerably bigger on a cell phone, and the interface is much easier to navigate.

Smartphones are more advanced and can be beneficial for seniors who are more tech-savvy. With features such as a bigger and brighter display, it makes it easier for older people who have eyesight problems. Another bonus for smartphones is that they come with a protective case so they won’t get badly damaged if they fall on the floor.

The below infographic from Fanmisenior explains in further detail the differences between a cell phone and smartphone and looks at which of two may be better suited to older people. When it comes to helping them choose the right phone, you need to keep in mind the different features and which will be more beneficial. Check the infographic out here.

6 Benefits of Mindful Breathing

A key focus of my blog is Health/Wellness. We often take it for granted, but breathing is not only an essential part of our lives in terms of biology, but it can also unlock other keys to increasing our qualities of life. The following contributed post is entitled, 6 Benefits of Mindful Breathing.

* * *

Isn’t it funny how we need to breathe to survive, but breathing is something we do without thinking and often forget the importance of it? It’s crazy that it can take something like a global pandemic and having to wear masks to make us appreciate being able to breathe in the wonderful fresh air.

If you’re not sure how to practice mindful breathing, then you can seek out guides to help you online, or if you’re really serious about getting it right, then check out this app from obVus Solutions, which visually displays your breath so that you can see when you’re breathing correctly using your diaphragm.

Meditation practitioners have known the benefits of mindful breathing for thousands of years, so there must be some truth to it, and there must be some profound benefits, but what are they?

It reduces stress and anxiety
We all know how it feels when you need to take deep breaths on a stressful day, well this is because mindful breathing activates your body’s “rest and digest” system and once this is activated, your heart rate and blood pressure lowers, which helps to reduce anxiety. It can also help to balance your emotions, and decrease the hyperactivity in your brain.

It helps to reduce exhaustion
With the busy lives people lead these days, it’s common to feel exhaustion. However according to a study published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, mindful breathing reduced burnout, cynicism, emotional exhaustion, and anxiety.

It provides pain relief
Research has found that mindfulness meditation can be effective in reducing the level of pain intensity. The study, published in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences said there should be further researched as an alternative to opioids in people with chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia, migraines, and lower back pain.

It helps your to feel more positive
Mindful breathing can help you to feel happier and more positive as is can reduce repetitive negative thoughts that people with depression often struggle with. According to the journal of Cognition and Emotion, manipulating the breath can account for as much as a 40 percent change in feelings of anger, fear, joy, and sadness.

It can aid in weight Loss
Practicing breathing exercises increase your leptin levels, which is a hormone produced by fat tissue that signals the brain to inhibit hunger. If you’re looking to lose weight then it’s certainly cheaper and safer than trying weight loss pills or any quick fixes. What do you have to lose (apart from weight) by trying some mindful breathing each day?

It can help you to live a longer life.
Practicing something like meditation or yoga has been shown to increase metabolism and suppress genetic pathways linked with inflammation. Chronic inflammation has been associated with deadly diseases as Alzheimer’s, depression, cancer, and heart disease, so if there’s anything you can do to decrease your chances of suffering from one of these, then it’s well worth doing. Who knew that better breathing could change your life? In fact, mindful breathing could even save your life.
