How COVID-19 Is Affecting Garages

Three of the focuses of my blog are Current Events, Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. The Coronavirus/COVID-19 Crisis/Pandemic has caused a lot of changes to numerous business sectors. One sector that has been severely impact by people social distancing due to COVID-19 is the auto repair garage business. The following contributed post is entitled, How COVID-19 Is Affecting Garages.

COVID-19 is changing the way we interact with vehicles. Cars are an essential part of everyday life. In a normal situation, your car would be the preferred mean of transport to get to work. As more and more companies are moving their business into the digital sphere, the commute to work has been temporarily transformed, except for essential workers. Nevertheless, people still rely on their vehicles to support them in their everyday trips. From grocery shopping to necessary doctor appointments or helping vulnerable relatives, the car makes it possible to stay connected and alive during the pandemic.

Unfortunately, essential repairs and services are being interrupted as a direct consequence of the quarantine. For garages, COVID-19 creates an impossible dilemma. How do you keep people safe on the road when you can’t get the parts you need?

Social distancing means remote solutions
When most businesses are going remote, there’s a practical argument for garages to do the same. Unfortunately, as most manufacturers have stopped activities worldwide, mechanics and garage owners find it impossible to get essential automotive parts for repair and servicing. However, they can jump on the digital bandwagon to teach their customers how to perform essential maintenance on their vehicles. It is crucial to remind customers how to look after their vehicles at a challenging time, such as now. Cars that are left untouched for several days or weeks will face difficulties restarting. The battery could go flat; the brake pads could rust, etc. Basic maintenance tutorials during the quarantine can make a difference!

Many businesses are facing monetary issues
Most small-town garages are independently owned. For them, a loss of income could put their survival at risk. When you consider the costs of a lease, insurance plan, and basic business maintenance, many small companies have to find ways of borrowing money to survive. While commercial loans are typically available to businesses, banks and other money lenders may not be willing to take the risk. Consequently, garage owners need to think outside the box. Joining a credit union and taking a secured loan against an asset are some of the most popular options.

Businesses have to face unfair complaints
Unfortunately, garages still face demands for last-minute repair works. Clients who have postponed repairs or services before the lockdown are now in a rush to get their car road-safe. But, as it can be difficult to secure car parts, garages have to focus on the repair works they can make. As such, it’s not uncommon to face complaints when a vehicle is not fixed to the owner’s expectations. Automotive defense attorney William Ferreira is the first to warn mechanics and garage owners against unnecessary activities during the pandemic. Clients have to understand the risks related to the supply situation.

Post quarantine is going to be worse than the holiday rush
As soon as it is safe to go back to normal life, garages are likely to face a rush of clients. Cars that have been left unmaintained during the crisis will need servicing and repairs. Preparing your business to meet the rush will make a difference. Small garages need to start planning to face demands as quickly as possible.

In those difficult times, car specialists need to get creative to support their community safely. From offering online tips and tricks for everyday maintenance to explaining to your customers why you can’t provide full repair services, maintaining positive communication with your audience could help save your garage business.

Here Are The Careers To Consider In The Wake Of The Coronavirus

Three of the focuses of my blog are Current Events, Career Discussions and General Education. In the working world, the Coronavirus/Covid-19 Crisis/Pandemic has created an environment where some careers and jobs have risen to the forefront. Going forward, it behooves individuals to consider careers that will thrive under circumstances like these where the Coronavirus has decimated whole sectors. The following contributed post is entitled, Here Are The Careers To Consider In The Wake Of The Coronavirus.

The coronavirus is going to have a massive impact on the world economy and evidence of this is already apparent. For instance, you might have heard that the unemployment rate in America right now is skyrocketing. Ultimately, this is going to lead to a massive flood of people entering the job market, once the furlough period ends. It’s important that if you are one of these individuals, you are pursuing the right careers. In this brave new world, certain careers are going to be in greater supply than others. So, let’s take a look at some examples.

Work From Home Positions

Businesses are definitely going to be keen to hire employees who can work and operate from home. There are numerous examples of companies like this. For instance, you might want to create content for a living. If you are keen to do this, then a work from home position is great. You can get a strong income and ensure that you don’t have to worry about the Monday morning commute. Of course, certain businesses are likely to become more flexible about which workers they allow working from home. An example of this would be customer service businesses and call handling companies. With the right tech and the correct setup, there’s no reason why these people can’t work from home.

Tech Operations

As the world shifts to an economy where significantly more people are working from home, it’s going to be important to ensure that businesses can remain connected. This leaves another opportunity wide open and that’s any industry that is required to ensure that these connections can be set up the right way. For instance, if you are involved in setting up cloud servers, then you’re definitely going to be in high demand over the next few years. Businesses will be keen to ensure that they can send and access data and files without delay.

There are lots of opportunities for training on the market too. For instance, you can explore a solution like Flackbox. This will provide the right training you need to ensure that you’re a pro in this particular sector.

Logistics

Finally, it’s likely that there is going to be a higher demand for logistics businesses in the near future. So, whether you are setting up your own company or joining an existing business, this could be a fantastic opportunity. You just need to make sure that you are delivering a quality solution that your customers or clients can trust. Businesses failing to deliver a high standard are going to stick out like a sore thumb.

We hope this helps you understand some of the key steps that you can take to ensure that your career is on the right track in the wake of the coronavirus. Remember, it may seem bleak right now but there are going to be job opportunities on the market. There are going to be positions that need to be filled. You just need to make sure that you are finding the right choice for you.

4 Important Security Tips When Video Conferencing During The Lockdown

Two key focuses of my blog are Current Events and Technology. The Coronavirus/Covid-19 Crisis/Pandemic has further pushed digital forms of communication to the forefront. In terms of businesses and organizations of all kinds, video conferencing has become critical. It isn’t without its security concerns though. The following contributed post is entitled, 4 Important Security Tips When Video Conferencing During The Lockdown.

* * *

The COVID-19 crisis and the resulting lockdown have had a huge impact on businesses around the globe. All businesses are having to find new ways of doing things, and many of them are using online tools to keep themselves going. Video conferencing software is one of the most important online tools that people are using right now because it allows everybody to stay in touch when face to face meetings are not an option. However, when you are discussing sensitive business matters and sending important data online, it’s vital that you consider security. There have already been a lot of issues with video calls being hacked, so it’s important that you take steps to protect yourself. These are some of the best ways to make sure that your video conferences are safe.

Use Managed VoIP Services

There are a lot of popular video conferencing tools, like Zoom or Google Hangouts, that many businesses and consumers are using to stay in touch with people during lockdown. However, these free pieces of software are not always suitable for business purposes and if you really want to ensure security, you should use managed VoIP, or voice over internet protocol services instead (click the link to see more information). A professionally managed VoIP will give you access to all of the video conferencing features that you need and they are a lot more secure than the consumer options.

Waiting Rooms

Whether you are using a managed VoIP service or a simple piece of video conferencing software, you should always use the waiting room feature. This feature puts people into a separate waiting room and then the host can see who they are before admitting them to the meeting. That way, anybody that shouldn’t be in the meeting can be blocked from entering.

Passwords

Most video conferencing software allows you to set a password that users need to input before they can join the call. It’s vital that you use a password on any meeting, no matter how trivial it may seem. If you are using software that allows you to create your own password for a meeting, make sure that you use a strong password that is not easy to crack. If you have a password in place and a waiting room, it’s incredibly difficult for anybody to access the meeting.

Do Not Allow Screen Sharing By Default

One of the best things about video conferencing software is the ability to screen share, but it can also be dangerous. If somebody manages to enter the call, and one of your employees is sharing their screen with lots of sensitive information on it, that’s a big problem. When you set up a call, do not allow screen sharing by default. That way, you can make sure that the call is definitely secure before you activate screen sharing, and ensure that people are only using it when absolutely necessary.

Video conferencing software is a great tool that is helping businesses adjust to the lockdown, but it is important that you follow these tips to make sure that you are secure.

Coronavirus and Your Business: Preventing Things From Going Bad

Three of the focuses of my blog are Current Events, Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. The Coronavirus has not only created a human health crisis, but also an economic crisis which business owner didn’t see coming. To be one of the businesses to survive this event and to continue generating profit, you’ll have to be very smart and vigilant. The following contributed post is entitled, Coronavirus and Your Business: Preventing Things From Going Bad.

It doesn’t matter what your business sells, Covid-19 will have impacted upon it in some way or another. If you’re a smaller company especially it can be extremely difficult to navigate your way through what are essentially completely uncharted waters. Here are some things to bear in mind, and how you can prevent things from going bad.

Slowing profits
Most kinds of businesses will have highs and lows when it comes to their profits over the course of the year. This is normal and can depend on things like public holidays and celebrations. For example, retail businesses usually peak in profits around Christmas time and can often drop for a while in the new year once everyone is spent out. The current pandemic is of course affecting just about every business, if yours has slowed down then it’s a time to start being innovative and thinking outside of the box for ways to promote and boost your profits as much as you can over this time.

Negative press
Negative stories about you in the press can affect your business due to spoiled reputation, so be sure to think carefully before you respond. In more extreme cases, you might even want to seek legal help. Many companies have gained bad press over this time where they’ve inadvertently gone about things the wrong way with social distancing, letting staff members go, upping prices due to increased demand and a whole long list of other things. Once things have blown over you’ll need to rebuild your reputation and regain the approval of those who shop with you. Be sure to apologise, we’re living in unprecedented times and no one is going to get it right all the time. If you’ve slipped up or done the wrong thing, make it clear that you apologise for that and admit your mistake.

Poor service
Many businesses have now had to make the switch to selling online, and this can come with some problems. Due to social distancing restrictions, warehouses that dispatch items are working to less capacity meaning things are sent out slower. There’s more demand on the postal service and courier companies so your customer will receive their order later than they’d usually expect. You might also have less customer service staff available to deal with queries so overall, customers may feel as though they’re getting poor service. The best thing you can do is put a notice on your website explaining the situation, while at this point most people will be aware of these things it ensures that people are buying and knowing what to expect. If it’s going to take a number of weeks for them to get their order for example then they need to know this from the get go.

Illness
When someone is injured or becomes unwell as a result of your business it can spell disaster for your company. And right now, we’re dealing with a virus that no one knows too much about so bringing employees back to work too soon could lead to an outbreak that you’re then blamed for. Make sure you have all of the right insurances in place to protect your business, and seek legal advice on any matters that arise. Be sure to follow health and safety laws to the letter, for example social distancing guidelines state that people should remain two metres apart. You’ll need to make changes in your workplace to accommodate this.

Theft
There are a number of ways people can steal from your business. The first is criminals actively taking assets from you, such as shoplifters stealing items, or burglars breaking into offices or warehouses. You could also come up against cyber theft, or even fraud or theft from your own employees. Another thing to be aware of is competitors stealing your ideas, if you’re worried about this being a possibility then look into stealth mode startups. This enables you a chance to get set up and running and protect your assets so that your ideas aren’t taken by others. You’ll need to protect your business both online as well as in person, as well as keep certain ideas under wraps until you’ve got things like copyrighting or patents in place.

Becoming Obsolete
We live in an incredibly fast paced world, even when things are normal before the virus, here technology ever evolving meant that once thriving businesses are left in the dark ages within a couple of years. Now that things have changed dramatically (and will likely stay this way for the foreseeable future) you have to be careful that you’re not rendered obsolete. There are certain businesses that people can’t use in the normal way at the moment, if you fall into this category it’s important to think outside of the box. Could you teach what you do via online lectures and presentations? Could you switch things up to offer customers what they need right now?

Bankruptcy
Things can and do go wrong in business which can lead to your venture failing, and in the current economic climate with the pandemic this is happening to many businesses (particularly smaller and newer ventures). Consider loans and government grants to keep you going, but be aware this won’t always be possible. While it’s hard to deal with now, you will have learned a lot through your failures. That way, later down the line when you’re ready to get involved in business again, you can build upon this knowledge and experience.

Clever Ways You Can Manage Your Money During Covid-19

Two of the focuses of my blog are Current Events and Financial Literacy/Money. The Coronavirus/Covid-19 Crisis/Pandemic has created money-related challenges that have never been seen before by Baby Boomers, Generation-Xers and Millennials. As such, many of us need to be creative about how we handle our money. The following contributed post is entitled, Clever Ways You Can Manage Your Money During Covid-19.

The majority of the country is facing the difficulties that have come with the enforced lockdown due to Covid-19. But, this time also gives us the opportunity to find ways to manage our finances a little better.

Try to make the best of this time to come out the other side more financially strong and enable yourself to have benefits that could last a lifetime.

Make the best of this short time to come out financially stronger and give you benefits that will last a lifetime.

Divide Up a Monthly Budget

It’s important now more than ever to live by a budget, it might seem easier to just plod along, but this is when you find yourself living payday to payday. A great way to divide up your monthly budget is to us the 50/30/20 rule.

50% – Use 50% of your salary for the things that you need, such as food, rent, education, travel, etc.
30%- Ise 30% on the things that you want, such as eating out, non-food shopping, and travel not for work.
20%- Then you should use 20% for safe investments and debts such as savings and any long-standing debts that could affect your credit rating.

You need to carefully analyze what you need and want, but you should also consider cutting down on the things you want if you have substantial debts to pay.

Have A Look At Any Income You May Be Missing Out On

If you’re struggling financially then now is a great time to be looking at any options you have to help increase your income. It might be that you are one of the many people who have lost their main income or have experienced a drop in income and now need some support. There are many government help schemes to help various people, whether you’ve become unemployed, lost self-employed wages, or are a business owner there is something for the majority of people. You could also use this time to look into any money you may be owed from things such as waiting for a payout from an accident claim, it may be possible to use settlement loans as a way to tie you over until the payout, or maybe you’re owed money from a refund of something you have purchased, it’s now time to chase any of these to ensure you’re financially stable.

Have A Look At Unused Memberships

Have a look at the monthly/annual memberships that you are paying for. It could the Gy, a social club or maybe even places like theme parks or zoos. The chances are you’re unable to use these at the moment and it could be a while before things are back to normal and you can utilize them again. This means you could be paying for something that you’re not going to use, which is a waste of valuable income. Cancelling these in the short term could help to top up your income in a much needed time.

You should remember that this difficult time will go away at some point in time. It’s a good idea to use this short time to try and come out financially stronger than you were before, this is going to benefit you in the long-term too, especially if you stick to it. Have you made financial changes due to Covid-19? Please share them in the comments below.

Advice On Borrowing Money Because Of Losses Due To COVID-19

Two of the focuses of my blog are Current Events and Financial Literacy/Money. The Coronavirus/COVID-19 Crisis/Pandemic has thrown many people’s personal finances into chaos. One avenue for managing this economic hardship is borrowing which can actually confound matters. The following contributed post is entitled, Advice On Borrowing Money Because Of Losses Due To COVID-19.

If you are thinking about borrowing money, you need to do so with a great amount of care. This is especially the case during the current pandemic. However, a lot of people have found themselves in a position where they need to borrow money. This is especially the case for those that are not eligible for government assistance. In this blog post, we will talk you through some options that are available, as well as providing some advice. It is important to be aware that there is no one singular borrowing solution that is great for everyone. You need to make sure you can always make the repayments, otherwise, you could find yourself in a much bigger cycle of debt.

Unfortunately, the need to borrow money is something most people experience. If you don’t have rich grandparents or generous friends, the only other option is to borrow money from a financial institution or a lending company. Nonetheless, there have been many horror stories of individuals who have taken out a payday loan for example, and then struggled to make the monumental repayments. If you are borrowing money you have to be extremely careful regarding the path you go down.

A credit union is the best place to start
The best place to begin when it comes to borrowing money because of losses you have incurred during COVID-19 is with a credit union. Joining a credit union means that you will essentially be part of a community whereby people are encouraged to save, and lenders lend to other members when they are in need.

There is no guarantee that joining a credit union is going to be an option for you. You will only be able to secure a loan if you are a member. There are a lot of credit unions that are going to require you to save first before you can opt to take out a loan. However, this is not always going to be the case, so it is certainly worth looking at the different credit unions that are out there and seeing whether you will be accepted into any of them.

If you can’t join a credit union, what about a loan secured against your vehicle?
There are many loans to choose from, however, car logbook loans are popular with a lot of people to help them through the COVID-19 financial strain. One of the best things about a logbook loan is the fact that almost everyone can apply. This does not mean everyone will be approved, however, it does mean that there is hope for those with a bad credit history. If you wish to take out a logbook loan you will need to be over the age of 18-years-old, the car must be in your name, and it must be paid for in full. In addition to this, you have to show that you are going to be able to make the repayments. Nonetheless, credit history checks are not always carried out, and therefore if you have a bad history you needn’t be fearful. There is every chance that you may be accepted if you meet the other criteria put in place.

In addition to this, if you take out this type of loan you will still have access to your vehicle. A lot of people worry that they have to hand over their car until they have paid the money back. This is definitely not the case. The only time the company can take your vehicle is if you fail to meet the terms that have been outlined in the contract. Otherwise, you can continue to live life as normal.

A lot of people like car logbook loans because of the easy application process. If you were to borrow money from a bank, for example, it is likely that you would experience an extremely segmented process. You would have to hand over one document, then come back and fill out several forms, then you will be asked for further documents, then you will need to wait for something to be checked, and so on and so forth. It seems to be never-ending. However, with a logbook loan you are usually only required to fill out an application form online and you will be informed of everything you need to provide prior to doing so.

Last but not least, this article would not be complete without mentioning the amount of money you can borrow and the repayment terms put in place. Flexibility is undoubtedly the name of the game when it comes to this type of lending. There are so many companies offering logbook loans and therefore you are assured to find a loan that fits in with your circumstances and your needs. In addition to this, you only borrow what you need. This lessens the risk of you experiencing any difficulty when paying back the cash.

What happens if you have a bad credit history?
Let’s clarify the fact that there are criteria in place you will need to meet when applying for any type of loan. A lot of people have a tendency to assume that anyone with bad credit will not be accepted, but this is not the case. Nevertheless, what makes some of the online loan companies different from traditional lenders is the fact that they do not consider your credit rating first and foremost. If you were to apply for a loan from a bank, for example, you would need a good credit rating to get past the first stage. However, some online lenders are more bothered about the current monetary situation you find yourself in, rather than any mistakes you have made in the past.

They want to know that you are going to have the ability to make the repayments every month, and this is why they want to see that you have a regular income coming in. This is their main priority. This does not mean that your credit rating won’t be considered; some direct lenders will conduct a credit check as well. Nonetheless, this does not necessarily mean that your bad credit rating is going to hold you back. There is every chance that you will be approved if you show the lender you are someone trustworthy to lend to.

How To Help During Covid-19

A key focus of my blog is Current Events. During this Coronavirus/Covid-19 Crisis/Pandemic, people have found themselves in a myriad of positions. Some people are struggling while others are flourishing and there those in between. If you’re in position to help someone, it’s worth considering. The following contributed post is entitled, How To Help During Covid-19.

* * *

The current global pandemic has made things very hard for a lot of people. People have lost jobs, may have lost loved ones, are struggling to manage to stay at home, or may just be finding the news cycle upsetting and stressful. If you’re lucky enough to be in a position to do so, you might be looking for ways to help others. Here are some ideas to offer help.

Image – free for commercial use

Raise Money

There are lots of charities who need help now. You could support a charity funding medical research, supporting those who have lost their income, or buying essential safety equipment for key workers. You could make a donation, buy a fund-raising item like COVID 19 bracelets, or fund-raise yourself. Get sponsored to walk laps of your garden, do a virtual marathon on your running machine, or if you’re crafty, make items to sell to raise money.

Help Your Neighbors

They say that charity begins at home, so if you’re looking for ways to help, start by looking at who might benefit from help on your street. You might have elderly or vulnerable neighbors who would appreciate someone dropping off some groceries to save them from having to go out and risk contact with someone who is ill. Does your neighbor have small children they’re struggling to entertain at home? If you have spare craft supplies or old toys your children don’t want anymore, you could make a gift of them to give them something new to do. Perhaps you have lots of books you won’t read again that someone would appreciate while they can’t go out much. Even just offering a listening ear (in a safe way) could help a lot. Set up a Facebook or WhatsApp group for your street where people can post offers of spare things or the time they have to donate, or can ask for any help they need. Put a note through people’s doors to offer your services if you’re able to help. Even if people don’t take you up on the offer, they’ll feel better knowing help is available if they need it.

Reach Out

A lot of people are finding this pandemic very stressful and upsetting. If you have friends who you think will be finding things hard, reach out to them. Perhaps you know they struggle with health anxiety, or you know they live alone and will be lonely while we shouldn’t be going out. Send messages, arrange online calls, phone them, send letters or any other communication method that appeals to you. Reaching out to someone will make you both feel better. You can both talk and get your worries off your chest, and you can both feel better for having some communication with another person. Why not set-up a virtual happy hour for you and your friends to meet online, share a drink, talk as you would normally, and just enjoy each other’s company. Keeping some semblance of normality in this way can make everyone feel better.

Dealing With A Drastic Change In Your Healthcare Business’ Day To Day

Three of the focuses of my blog are Current Events, Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. The Coronavirus/Covid-19 Pandemic/Crisis has created drastic changes for healthcare businesses. Whenever something happens that imparts systematic changes, it’s important to understand how to deal with them. The following contributed post is entitled, Dealing With A Drastic Change In Your Healthcare Business’ Day To Day.

Whenever something needs to change within a business, the company itself can have a bit of an overhaul. But when it comes to a healthcare business, there’s a lot more back and forth to go through – operations management can get very complicated when both health and wellbeing are involved.

So, considering the current global pandemic, and the need for change within the healthcare sector around the globe, let’s go into a little more detail about making a drastic change. The day to day in a healthcare business can be highly unpredictable anyway, but especially so in times like these.

Come Up with a Strategy

Your patients still need to know you care. And without knowing what you’re going to do over the next few months – without a plan – you won’t be able to keep up with the tide of patients you might not even think about having to accommodate for usually.

A strategy is going to be essential right now, and it might be hard to come up with on your own. Thankfully, Healthcare Consulting companies are out there, and are looking to band together to help you make an effective yet drastic change to your daily operations. Put this kind of resource to good use; healthcare is all about lending a hand.

Pick Up on Technology

Technology is one of the main things that can help your healthcare business to cope during difficult times. Tech has revolutionised the healthcare sector in the modern era; more people have access to regular and quality healthcare simply because they can talk to a doctor online, and almost everyone has an internet connection.

Which is why it’s key to focus on your tech capability right now – what would you be able to do with the digital strategy you’re already putting to good use in your business? You can’t be sure you’ll have the chance to upgrade right now, so you’ll need to focus on what you do have.

How many virtual appointments could help keep patients safe and at home? Can you have at least two to three people man the phones at all times? Can you use an online delivery service for medications?

Think About Costs

And finally, operations management in healthcare is all about knowing where the costs are going to be, and how you can cope with them. You can use data analysis to work out where the big and recurring costs are, so do this first.

Then, if you don’t already have an emergency fund in place, or a form of insurance that you’ve paid into over the years, be sure to reach out for donations and/or for government aid. You and your workers are on the front lines during a time like this, so ensure you have a portal for people to lend their aid through right now.

Dealing with a drastic change in a healthcare business’ day to day is one of the hardest things. Make sure you know the drill above.

Your Business During Lockdown: How The Online World Could Change The Way You Do Business

Three of the focuses of my blog are Current Events, Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. During the Coronavirus/Covid-19 lockdown, many businesses have done okay because they’re doing business online which doesn’t require coming into personal contact with people. The following contributed post is entitled, Your Business During Lockdown: How The Online World Could Change The Way You Do.

* * *

We are in a very uncertain and unique time of our lives right now. With a lot of the world grinding to a halt, it can mean that you start to worry about your business. Running a business even in normal times can be quite difficult. Starting out, finding investment and launching your new business venture always seems uncertain at the beginning, and with so many businesses failing in that crucial first year you may think you are out of deep water, only to find that you are now in a period of time that seems more uncertain than ever. Especially if you rely on people dealing with your business face to face, such as providing a service or even having a shop that you would normally sell from.

So what can you do? Many businesses have had to diversify and change their processes, and this can mean utilising the online and digital world more than you have ever done before. It can seem daunting at first, but there are so many ways that you can enhance your business this way and this could present a whole new line of opportunity for your business to grow and develop in the future. With that in mind, here are some of the ways that the online world might start to change the way you do business moving forward.

A social media strategy

One of the first things to think about would be to develop a new social media strategy. More people are having to stay indoors and that can mean that more time is spent browsing their social media channels and platforms. So now more than ever your business needs to be relevant and visual online. Coming up with a new social media strategy is a great way to make your content relevant and consistent. You can also ensure that you use this time to engage with your audience and also reply to direct messages and comments. Humanising your business in some way will help you to appear relatable, especially in these uncertain times. You could also use social media to offer up content or even a freebie to entice people to look into your business and what you can offer in more detail. Many have offered free online resources or shared video content to highlight their business in a different way.

Updating your website

You may have had a basic website to get you this far., but now you can use the time to enhance your website and add different pages to it. This might be looking at your ecommerce shop and making it easier for people to buy products or order services from you. It might be that you create more content for the website, or improve things such as explanations for the products and services that you provide. This could be the ideal time to look at making these changes so that you can make your website more appealing when people click through to it.

Having an up to date CRM system

Another thing that you might want to sort now that you have some time is your customer relationship management system. Now more than ever you will want to look after the customers and clients that you have, as well as attracting new ones into your business. This is when you want to update your system and also correct any information that might be incorrect. You could use the time to contact these customers directly, be that on email address or calling them to ensure that you have the right details. This might also be the perfect time for some data capture, so if you don’t have email addresses, for example, which can be an excellent way to directly market your customer base, then you could try and find out this information and update your records accordingly.

Financially Savvy Ways to Use Your Economic Impact Payments

Two of the focuses of my blog are Current Events and Financial Literacy/Money. Due to the growing global pandemic of COVID-19, also referred to as the coronavirus, the federal government has taken unprecedented steps to help those who have been affected by the virus and its economic backlash.

As Congress decided to take action, they passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, commonly referred to as CARES. Within CARES, the federal government has provided the most comprehensive aid package for all different types of Americans.

Small Business Grants to help firms maintain payroll, and Economic Impact Payments for individuals who have been negatively impacted by the loss in work.

As more individuals file for unemployment and can no longer work, stimulus checks are beginning to roll out to any individual who qualifies. Per NPR, the restaurant industry alone cut 3 million jobs in March alone, marking a $25 billion drop in revenue.

Individuals who earned no more than $100,000 when filing their taxes in 2018-2019 qualify for a $1,200 stimulus check, and up to an additional $500 per dependent. Determining the best way to us your economic impact payment can help you to put your unexpected stimulus check to great use.

Save Your Stimulus Check
This one is obvious. Keep as much cash as you can on hand. You don’t necessarily have to have physical cash accessible (although it’s not a bad idea to have some stashed away), but it should be a priority to have as deep of a rainy day fund as you can.

One way to use your economic impact check in a financially savvy manner is to consider saving all of it, or at least a portion of your incoming check. Setting aside a portion of the entire stimulus check you receive to call upon in case of emergency is a smart, and savvy strategy.

Stock Up on Food and Supplies
Stocking up on additional food and supplies is another way to make great use of the economic stimulus check you receive. While it’s not recommended to hoard supplies that are essential to everyone, stocking up on supplies including toilet paper, household cleaners, and even garbage bags can ensure your family is readily prepared for any future outbreak or global incident.

Stocking up on food with pantry food and non-perishable vegetables and meats is also highly advisable to remain as prepared as possible for your entire family, including any children you have in your household. If you want to avoid the grocery store, you can order dry meal replacements or equivalents online in bulk as well.

Pay Off Bills and Debt
Paying off debts and paying current bills is highly advisable for anyone who is focused on getting ahead financially and bringing down the debt they have to the names. Paying off debts can help you if you are in the process of rebuilding your credit or if you simply want to alleviate any of the payments you are required to make currently each month.

Choosing to use your economic impact payment to pay for your household bills including your mortgage or rent, your utilities, and even your cable, internet, and cell phone services can help you to remain afloat until your work and the rest of the economy is back up and running.

You can take advantage of the student loan interest forbearance as well, and pay down some of your student loan principal. That will also alleviate your future costs, as the interest that can accrue in the future will be less as you are paying it down now.

Take a Vacation
Once the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed and is under complete and total control, you may want to consider taking a vacation with your loved ones or your entire family. Getting out in the fresh air, exploring the world, and spending time with those who mean the most can be extremely beneficial mentally and emotionally once the quarantine orders have been lifted throughout the country and throughout the rest of the world.

Not to mention if you decide to book a trip now, you can take a trip for a fraction of the traditional cost. Airlines are running specials to help bring in revenue, and it includes discounts on all facets of your trip (air fare, hotel, car rental, etc.).

Save for a Home or a Car Down Payment
If you are free from debts or if you are simply looking to make a bigger change in your life, consider setting aside your stimulus check to put towards a car down payment or even a home you are interested in purchasing. Whether you have big dreams of owning your own home or if you are in need of a new vehicle, you can use your economic impact payment to ensure you receive a long-term benefit for your investment.

Not only does it fulfill an immediate need in your life, but it can improve your long term financial standing in the future as well. Not only are you setting yourself up for success now, but your also bolstering your credit rating for potential future purchases.

Dabble in New Hobbies
This step is only recommended if you feel secure in your income and already have money stashed away. However, if that is the case, exploring new hobbies, activities, or skills you have wanted to pursue is a great way to keep yourself busy.

After all, you may never have as much downtime as you do right now, and what better way to spend that time than by refining your skillset or diversifying your talents. Learning about new hobbies and spending time honing your skills can help you to maintain a sense of purpose while also providing you with a uniquely rewarding and personal experience.

The more hobbies and activities you have to keep yourself from feeling bored and despondent from the outside world, the easier it will become to cope with quarantine and learning how to live with your own company, even during tough times.

Whether you are currently in need of your economic impact payment to help with bills, your mortgage, and even groceries, or if you simply intend to put your stimulus check directly back into the economy, there are many ways you can do so in just about any situation. With a bit of brainstorming and financial calculating, determine the best way for you to put your stimulus check to work for you.
