The Ultimate Guide To Safe Driving

A key focus of my blog is Health/Wellness. We as a society incur lots of injuries and sometimes deaths a result of unsafe driving. Safe driving can make all the difference in our lives and those we’re sharing the road with. The following contributed post is entitled, The Ultimate Guide To Safe Driving.

Driving in the twenty-first century should be easier than ever what with all the cruise control functions, automatic gearboxes, and advanced safety features. However, with increased levels of traffic and more ruthless individuals on the road, it can be a more daunting prospect to head to the grocery store in your car. To combat any hesitance you have about driving, you need to ensure that you employ safe driving tactics at all times. This means being a defensive driver. If you focus on everyone else on the road, potential hazards and you always stick to the speed limit, you can enjoy a fun drive whenever you put the pedal to the metal.

Take Your Time

When out on the road, it’s better to go slower and reach your destination safely rather than never get to your destination at all. You must make sure that you take your time and stick to the speed limit to stay safe. Don’t be tempted to go just that touch faster because you are running late for an appointment. This could result in you getting into a collision or being pulled over by police. Set out earlier than you anticipate and mitigate for any potential traffic. Use a satnav with inbuilt live traffic updates to give you a heads up if congestion is building. An alternative route will then be suggested. Consider a dashcam from TDot Performance to ensure that your safe driving is evidenced should the worst happen. Utilize the tech on offer to help you drive more safely.

Be Aware

While you might be tempted to focus on your own driving, you need to consider all road users, including other drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Everyone has a right to be on the road, so ensure that you consider their needs. Many cyclists have been injured because unobservant drivers have turned left without looking or have opened their doors without checking their mirrors. This shows a lack of awareness and can be detrimental to other road users. Remain aware and alert. Never drive tired. If you are sleepy, pull over, rest up and start driving when you are feeling more focused on the road.

Maintain Your Vehicle

While your car isn’t on the road, it needs to remain in a drivable condition. Do some fluid checks every month, such as oil dipstick tests and washer fluid level checks. Make sure that your tires are at the correct pressure and that the bodywork is free from excess rust. Keep a jack in your car and ensure that you have a red warning triangle, some spare oil and water should you break down. Ensure that you keep your break down cover up to date and have your insurance details in the glove box. By maintaining your vehicle, you can be sure of your safety on the road.

Being a safe driver means being defensive and thinking of your fellow road user. By following this guide, you can be a more confident driver when you next take to the road.

What To Do If Your Mental Health Is Suffering

A key focus of my blog is Health/Wellness. Our mental health is absolutely critical to our overall well-being. It’s not something that can directly be seen but it impacts everything. It’s also potentially the hardest part of ourselves to fix once it breaks. The following contributed post is entitled, What To Do If Your Mental Health Is Suffering.

Your mental health is extremely vital when it comes to you being happy and healthy. If you’re having trouble functioning and are just trying to get by each day, then you may be suffering from mental health issues. The upside is that there is help available and there is hope for improved days ahead.

You must catch it early and take steps to feel better before your condition worsens. It’s a serious matter that you shouldn’t take lightly or ignore. You can experience brighter days ahead when you commit to healing and addressing what you’re going through head-on. Know that you’re not alone and that many people can relate and will understand what you’re going through.

Monitor Your Signs & Symptoms

You may not be feeling like yourself or right but aren’t sure why. Therefore, it might help to monitor your signs and symptoms so you can determine if it’s a mental health issue you’re experiencing. Write down what you’re dealing with and what has changed when it comes to your mood and desire to participate in activities you once enjoyed doing. It’ll help to identify what you’re feeling and what’s changing when it comes to your emotional state and behaviors.

Reach out for Help

It’s always a wise choice to reach out for help when your mental health is suffering. You don’t have to go through this challenging time alone. There are many professionals and resources out there that can benefit you. You can find help based on your situation, such as seeking out assistance from the wounded warriors project if you were a service member and are now having mental health issues. There are also support groups for just about any type of condition you have so consider this outlet as another possibility when you’re struggling mentally.

Practice Self-Care

You must take care of yourself daily and attend to your personal needs if you want to feel better. While this can be more difficult to do when your mental health is suffering, you must find ways to practice self-care. Eating the right foods, exercising, and getting enough sleep are all activities that impact your mood and mental health. You may be able to manage your symptoms more adequately when you make your well-being a priority and avoid overdoing it or putting yourself in stressful situations.

Confide in Trusted Friends & Family Members

You can also consider confiding in trusted friends and family members when your mental health is suffering. Open and be vulnerable so you can let others in and make them aware of what’s going on with you. While they may not be able to solve the problem, they can offer you support and comfort and listen to your concerns. They may also be able to point you in the right direction for getting the help you need so you can heal and feel like yourself again. Talking about your problems or mental state can take some of the burdens off your shoulders and help you not to feel so alone.

Whether you’re saving yourself time or you think you’ve got your heart set on a property, you may be surprised if you start researching all of the options that are available to you. From looking further afield to working with different estate agents, you never know what you could find. For a great estate agent, you can visit the Lake Murray real estate site here.

Another thing you should make sure you’re doing when it comes to finding your dream house is to ensure you’re viewing all of your potential choices in person. Consider The Local Area

When you’re thinking about the perfect house for you, you may want to think about the local area too. Whether this means finding somewhere close to your child’s school or choosing somewhere that has great transportation networks, you need to be sure you’re choosing a house that is in the right location. If you daily to do this, you will soon start to resent the house you’re in.

Don’t Make A Decision Too Soon

Finally, you need to be sure you’re not making a decision too soon. Although you may find a house that seems perfect, it’s always better to take a break and think about it first. During this time, you can do some more investigating into your mortgage options and ensure that you will be getting the best deal for your dream home. When you apply for a mortgage, it’s vital to keep in mind that your personal information will be stored and used in a credit check; it will also be used to contribute to HMDA Scrubs to assess demographics in the market. Understanding how and where your information is being used can help you make the best decision for your future.

Specialist Contractor

When you buy an old property, you may not realize the range of historical features it contains. These features can give your home a unique charm, from intricate stonework to carved wooden details. However, they also require specialist knowledge and expertise to properly maintain and repair. This is because they have the skills and experience to understand how the original materials were used and crafted, as well as the techniques needed to reproduce them accurately. Specialist contractors are hard to find and often overbooked because they’re so rare! If you want to save yourself the hassle then find someone who can find your dream home for you, so you can avoid having to hire a specialist to create what you’re looking for. Paul Ognibene from Urban Spaces can help you with that, as they put a prime focus on making neighbourhoods better for the families that live there.

5 Recycling Tips for Businesses

Two of the focuses of my blog are Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. Even businesses who become more digital and green, generate wastes. Efficiently doing so can be efficient for operations and profits. The following contributed post is entitled, 5 Recycling Tips for Businesses.

In recent times, more and more businesses are going green, not just because it’s viewed as a social responsibility, but it’s ultimately the right thing to do. One of the major practices businesses take up once they go green is recycling. Altogether, recycling is a very important step to take to reduce overall waste production on a larger scale.

This is especially useful because offices are known for generating a huge amount of waste on a daily basis, and recycling is able to cut that amount by at least half. If you are looking for ways to ensure that your business is environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible, here are 5 helpful recycling tips for businesses.

1. Go over your paper consumption
Paper contributes to one of the highest forms of waste produced in an office. This is why your business needs to be more conscious of the amount of paper it consumes. One practical action you can take is to incorporate measures that limit excessive paper consumption.

So, instead of printing out documents and files, encourage your workers to use emails and online document sharing platforms instead. You can also use pull printing technology so that all print jobs are user-activated. Why? Well, up to 30 percent of print jobs are never even collected, so this can drastically reduce printing volume.

2. Carry out a waste audit
As much as businesses try to recycle, sometimes, they still end up producing a large amount of waste as a result of throwing out materials that can actually be recycled. Yes, paper, plastic, and metal are commonly recycled materials, but businesses could honestly recycle more. A waste audit educates everyone in the office about waste production as well as other kinds of materials that can be recycled.

3. Choose a good recycler
Your business can partner with a recycling company that will, in turn, provide them with waste management advice. They can equally ensure that the company produces zero waste to landfill. Nevertheless, before choosing a recycling or waste management company, you need to carry out some research to make sure that they are the right fit for your business.

Some things to consider include whether your recycler is environmentally friendly and if they are an efficient, reliable, and professional business. You can read more here from this recycling and waste management company.

4. Collect organics
Recycling is one thing, but having your business collect organic food waste is another platform for it to go green. Organic food waste includes things like coffee grounds, tea bags, food scraps, and even cup sleeves. Collecting these types of compost waste can potentially put your business on the road towards achieving zero waste.

5. Centralise recycling bins
There’s nothing worse than wanting to recycle but not having a recycling bin close by. One very easy action that your business can take is to centralize the recycling bins. Ensure that they are placed in positions where everyone in the office can see and access. This will encourage employees to recycle more and can lead to less waste production.

5 Ways You Can Put Your Law Degree to Good Use

“Students who studied law in college often finish school and find that they are confused as to what the next step should be.”

A key focus of my blog is Career Discussions. When we think of law degrees, we think of them for specific purposes but there are actually several ways to put them to good use. The following contributed post is entitled, 5 Ways You Can Put Your Law Degree to Good Use.

Students who studied law in college often finish school and find that they are confused as to what the next step should be. A lot of law graduates opt for the most obvious choice, which is to apply to a law firm. Most times, it’s usually because of the appeal of a large salary. Unfortunately, a bulk of these applicants find themselves disappointed when they’re hit with this painful reality: getting into a law firm is very difficult.

More so, the very small percentage of law graduates who do eventually get the opportunity to work at prestigious law firms sometimes realize down the line that the job might not be what they expected, or not what they really want. The problem here is that a lot of law graduates limit themselves when it comes to exploring options post-law school. It isn’t uncommon to shift positions,or sides, from prosecution to defense for example. You may also step down from key roles into something where you can help others, just as Tricia A Bigelow recently did by moving from the California Court of Appeal to arbitration. There are several other things you could do with your law degree, and if you’re sitting there wondering what they are, then here are 5 other ways for you to use your degree.

1. Notary
Those who do not want to argue in court should take a closer look at the profession of notary. In contrast to public prosecutors, judges and lawyers, the notary is basically there to prevent a legal dispute. Notaries, for example, take care of the certification of property contracts and mortgages, foundations of joint stock companies, marriage contracts and divorce agreements as well as wills and inheritance contracts.

2. Administrative lawyer
Yes, there’s the option of practising law in a law firm, but discussed, sometimes that just doesn’t work out. You see, working in a law firm doesn’t mean that you have to practice law there. There are other opportunities for law graduates in law firms, one of which includes filling administrative roles.
This is a relief for those who don’t have a postgraduate certificate in their pockets, as the final grade is not so important here. More so, administrative lawyers take on administrative and legal advisory work for authorities and also bring clarification in legal disputes. Administrative lawyers are primarily employed by the federal, state or local authorities – such as the police, ministries or district offices.

3. Self-employed lawyer
This is a less common route than the others, but as a law graduate, you could simply just venture into entrepreneurship as a criminal defense lawyer or start your own law firm. If you really have an entrepreneurial mindset, don’t be afraid to venture out and do your own thing. Remember that all the big law firms you know today started out small.

4. Government lawyer
There are at least a thousand and one roles that a government lawyer could take up. The great thing about being a government lawyer is that there are opportunities on every level, from federal to state to local/regional. Local governments employ lawyers all the time, as they need their expertise in roles ranging from contracting to litigation. More so, working as a government lawyer can even get you the added advantage of having access to special loan forgiveness programs that help pay off your student loans.

5. Conflict resolution
A lot of the time, businesses and individuals tend to consider alternative dispute resolution before going to court. This is where you come in since there are a couple of roles involved in this field. You could work as a mediator, dispute resolution specialist as well as a bunch of other things. You will essentially be involved in helping people reach resolutions outside the courtroom.

Re-Opening Your Dental Practice After COVID-19

Three key focuses of my blog are Current Events, Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. Much of the healthcare sector has stayed open during the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Crisis/Pandemic. Dental practices in most instances closed down unless absolutely necessary. As the lockdown eases, dental practices will look to re-open and if you’re an owner of one, there are some aspects you want to consider. The following contributed post is entitled, Re-Opening Your Dental Practice After COVID-19.

As the coronavirus lockdown rules start to relax even further it opens up opportunities for businesses and services to start back up. One of the first things that will open up is the healthcare system. Obviously, doctors surgeries, hospitals, and pharmacies have remained open through the pandemic. However, the wider healthcare world had to shut down – including dental practices in some areas. If you’re a dentist that’s struggled for business over the last few months, you’re probably eager to get started once more. So, here are some tips to open your dental practice when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted:

Stock up on PPE

First and foremost, be sure you have a good supply of PPE. This includes both masks and gloves, seeing as all of your work involves playing around with people’s mouths. Masks are absolutely vital, but gloves are just as important when you consider what you’ll be touching. A dental supply store will stock everything you need, so don’t hesitate to buy as much as possible. As of right now, PPE supplies are a lot better than they were when the virus initially broke out. But, who knows how long that will last? It’s better to stock up now so you can keep providing treatment for as long as possible.

Enforce new appointment rules

It’s so tempting to jump right back into the swing of things when you open your doors after lockdown. However, you have to take things slow. Don’t open your practice up for a full day of appointments, restrict how many people you see each day. Yes, this means you miss out on lots of money, but safety must come first. You need to plan it so there’s a small number of people in the waiting room at all times. This will probably mean you have to extend the time between appointments to avoid lots of people coming in at the same time. Instead of having 10 minutes between appointments, extend it to 20 or 30. As time goes on you can gradually move things back to normal as per the government guidelines.

Reduce your staff

A lot of businesses are doing this as it reduces the number of people all within one area. Obviously, a dental practice can be pretty small, so you can’t afford to have lots of dentists, nurses, and admin staff all running around. Furthermore, it would be pretty pointless if you’re operating on a reduced schedule. Instead, reduce your staff and come in with a smaller crew. Again, this limits the risk of infections and keeps things safe for everyone. You may only need yourself and a secretary for the time being. Once more, you can increase your staff as the appointments get back to normal.

It has been an incredibly difficult time for all dentists during coronavirus. If you’ve not been allowed to work throughout this period, then you probably can’t wait to get started again. Keep an eye out for any news in your country that lets you get back to work. Then, follow these three tips when you re-open.

Supporting Mental Health In The Workplace

Two of the focuses of my blog are Career Discussions, Health/Wellness and Organizational and Management Discussions. When you’re in management, you want to support the overall health of your staff. Doing so will both maximize their productivity and foster their loyalty. The following contributed post is entitled, Supporting Mental Health In The Workplace.

* * *

Supporting mental health in the workplace is essential; people deserve to be able to open up about how they’re thinking and feeling, and to feel encouraged to do so even in a professional setting. We’re human beings, after all, and we can’t just turn our brains off when we’re at work!

So, if you’re someone who’s out to support mental health in the workplace, but you’re just not sure where to start, we’ve collected a few ideas together for you to look into. Mental health matters a lot more than people tend to think, and as a small business leader, it’s time to advocate for healthy management.

Pexels Image – CC0 Licence

Give Each Employee Some Time

Your employees deserve to have one on one time with you or with a supervisor they’re under the care of. Give them the chance to have private and/or personal meetings, where they can air their struggles or concerns. Because when you make time for meetings like these, you show your employees that their thoughts and feelings matter; you show them that the workplace doesn’t have to be just another problem on their plate.

Try Out a Workshop

A workshop or a training program is essential for supporting mental health in the workplace. With a strategy like this, you create an environment of education about mental health, and you place some positive emphasis on creating an open workplace that people can be productive in.

Indeed, a mental health workshop can be beneficial for all kinds of reasons. It can lead to more sensitivity in the workplace, it can lead to further treatment options to be explored, and it can even just mean a healthy, honest, and open dialogue about mental health at work is being had. Give a keynote speaker the platform, and give your employees the chance to take some time and put their needs at work first.

Provide Options

And finally, be sure to provide as much information on the options for mental health that are available to your employees. Let them know there’s help out there, and that the company can help them get it. Of course, plenty of businesses work closely with mental health charities and private organisations to ensure there’s always a counsellor on hand for an employee to see if need be.

But if your company hasn’t taken a step like this yet, it might be time to do so. Look into your own options for providing mental health care to those in your workplace; companies such as Meridian Psychiatric Partners are out there, and could become part of the healthcare package you provide. Even just storing helpful leaflets or official pamphlets on the front desk allows a person to pick up the information they need when they need it.

Supporting mental health in the workplace is essential to working well. Make sure you’re leading by example and providing the right resources for your employees. For a modern workforce, mental health and wellbeing should be a top priority.

5 Simple Ways to Combat Stress While Working From Home

Three of the focuses of my blog are Career Discussions, Current Events and Health/Wellness. The Coronavirus/Covid-19 Crisis/Pandemic has caused many workers to work at home which hasn’t been a simple adjustment for everyone. The following contributed post is entitled, 5 Simple Ways to Combat Stress While Working From Home.

Coronavirus has drastically affected business both large and small around the world. And because of the global pandemic, many have had to work from home instead of the usual office setting that they are used to. This change has affected the ability to work for those not familiar with a remote routine, leading to countless feelings of stress and as though they are on edge.

But to be as successful as possible within your role, it’s important to identify methods that will help to relax you – so that you’re feeling as productive and motivated each day.

Although it’s undeniable that you might not be as engaged as you would in your work setting when you’re among your colleagues, it’s still important to seek techniques that guarantee you get your work completed on time. But if you’re unsure as to where to start, then it might be a bit daunting. To help guide you, here are 5 approaches you could take:

1. Create a Dedicated Workplace

When working from home, it’s important to create a dedicated workplace – and to not sit in your living room on the couch or in another busy environment. By opting to sit and work in a loud part of your home, you’ll only feel stressed and as though you can’t complete tasks to the best of your abilities.

So to prevent this from happening, consider creating a home office that you can comfortably work in. This won’t only help your concentration levels, but will also be more ergonomic – especially if you have an adjustable office chair.

2. Keep in Contact with Colleagues and Loved Ones

During this time, it’s only natural to feel isolated when you’re at home all the time. And even though life is gradually getting back to normal, many people are still working from home either full time or part of the time. If you’re feeling isolated and stressed, then it’s essential that you try and stay in contact both with your colleagues and with loved ones.

Human interaction is vital throughout your working day and it’s something that shouldn’t be ignored. Giving you a little pick me up, these virtual video calls will make all the difference to how you’re feeling.

3. Take Breaks Throughout The Day

Although this might seem like an obvious one, it’s still worth a mention – especially during the coronavirus outbreak when you may feel limited as to what you can do. Taking breaks throughout the day is critical to recharging your brain and giving yourself that much-needed breather.

Without doing this, it’s clear that your mental health will start to suffer. So make sure you take time out away from your screen and manage any feelings of stress. Even just 10 minutes or so away from the desk will help you to refresh.

You could spend these breaks going on a walk nearby, baking something delicious or doing anything activity that doesn’t revolve around a screen. Just make sure that when you’re doing this you’re following the social distancing guidelines!

When work is finished, you can then have a cooling down period in which you unwind. Some people might take this time to understand the importance of grow cabinets if they use cannabis to relax, or another activity they enjoy doing.

4. Establish a Working Routine (And Try to Stick to it)

Without a schedule in place, you might feel as though you’re struggling to find a balance between your work time and your personal time. These blurred lines could start to make you feel stressed and as though you never have time to unwind.

It’s therefore a good idea to create a daily schedule. Within this time, you could list exactly when you’re going to work (which will usually align with your core working hours) and when you will stop work for the day.

Although this is a simple trick, it can prove to be invaluable not only in this time but in the future if you have to work from home again.

5. Switch Off

As part of your downtime, it’s also worth putting your phone and any other technology away at least two hours before you sleep. At the moment, the news and social media are incredibly negative, so instead of focusing on this before you go to bed, consider opting for reading a book or another activity.

When working from home, you want to ensure that your sleeping pattern is as good as possible with no disruptions. This is therefore a beneficial practice to do each night, to allow you to fall asleep more naturally.

Final Thoughts

So, there you go! Those are 5 simple methods that you can use to help you to relax and combat sleep while working from home.

The methods that you use, of course, is up to you. But whatever proactive steps you take towards ensuring that you manage your levels of stress, while remaining engaged the more successful you will be.

Four Benefits From Hiring A Website Designer

Three focuses of my blog are Financial Literacy/Money, Business/Entrepreneurship and Technology. When you’re first starting out, it can make sense to do everything yourself based upon something like costs for example. Once your business gets big enough though, it may be smart hire professional help. If for example you have a website, you might want to consider hiring a website designer. The following contributed post is entitled, Four Benefits From Hiring A Website Designer.

* * *

With any business, the website is one of the most important things to have, especially when so many of us are now online. It’s good to hire a website designer to make your website really stand out from the crowd and to build the reputation and awareness of your business. Here are four benefits of hiring a website designer.

It’ll Be High-Quality

With a website design, it needs to look the best, and when you’re paying for web designs, it’s better to get one custom-made than buy a pre-made one. The reason why is because that pre-made one is likely going to be used by lots of different individuals and businesses. You also have the issue of it being restrictive in what you might want to achieve with your own website. As much as pre-made versions can be good and more affordable, paying for the services of a Squarespace web designer, for instance, is going to be a lot more effective. You’re going to be able to get a say in all aspects of it, and it’s a design that’s being made from scratch. It’s exclusively yours, and so no one is going to be copying you.

Helps Make It Reliable & Responsive

You want to impress your customers, but you also want to be enticing new customers or those that happen to come across your website. It’s good to have a website that’s reliable and responsive, and that’s something that can be achieved by hiring a website designer. There’s nothing more frustrating than browsing a website that has a lack of functionality to it or broken links, for example. You want every opportunity that a customer or new customer takes to be one that’s enjoyable and easy for them when they hop on to your site.

Saves Time

There’s a lot that as a business, you have to contend with, and design a website isn’t something your design team has time to do. Not only that, but not all businesses will have design teams or experience to take on such a challenge. By having a website designer who can do it for you, it’s taking off some of that pressure and is a good element of the business to outsource. Outsourcing can be a great way to get things done by having to compromise simply because you have got the resources in-house.

Gives You A Competitive Edge

Giving yourself that competitive edge is essential nowadays because there are so many businesses and individuals out there.
