Two key focuses of my blog are Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. When you’re a business owner, there may come a time where it will make sense to move your business. There are several reasons for making this type of move. The following contributed post is entitled, The Benefits of an Office Relocation.
* * *
If you’re thinking about a relocation for your business office, then it can be a pretty exhilarating time. Relocating offices happen for many reasons, and it could mean moving your office to a different city, or perhaps even different countries. But the reason that it can be an exciting time is that it means that your business is growing and improving. Plus, when you relocate offices, it can be just the thing that can help you to create more innovative ways of working. You can set things up as you want then, have better organisation, as well as helping to create a sustainable, eco-friendly, and more productive office space. So it could be just what you need to help the business to continue to grow. Here are some of the reasons that it can help your business.
If your office is getting too small for the number of people that you have working for you, then it is obvious why you will need to move spaces. When an office space is congested and overcrowded, then it means that your team will be unable to complete all of their tasks efficiently, a it can mean things don’t run smoothly when things are overcrowded. Creating a fresh and new environment to work in, that is designed for the growing number of staff that you have, will help to boost morale as well as boosting the productivity of your employees; they can work more efficiently and effectively in a space that works for them.
Flexible Working
If your business does not offer flexible working for people already, then an office move, whether you use a commercial moving company or not, could be a way to help implement flexible working for your team. It can be a good time to create things like quiet zones for teams to have focus activities or use as breakout areas to relax. I can be a good thing to have open spaces for collaborative working too. When you have an office relocation then it gives you the chance to plan the new space around the team’s choices and styles of working, which gives them some flexibility.
Grow Your Business
A new space that uses best practices methods of working will give your employees to work more effectively, as well as more productively. That is going to help to improve the profitability of your company without question. Having a new office looks more impressive for prospective employees too, so it can be a good way to attract talent to your business that will help them to grow.
Lower Costs
For many businesses relocating can be a good way to save money. Could using some best practice design methods help you to downsize to a space with a smaller space, which will mean paying less rent? There are going to be costs associated with moving to a new space, but if you think of this with the bigger picture in mind, it can be an investment rather than an expense, and other costs can end up being lower if you’re in a newer space.
The first principle of my blog is Creating Ecosystems of Success, and two key focuses are Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. No matter what type of organization you’re running, you want to make the work environment as healthy and friendly to your employees as possible. The following contributed post is entitled, Making Your Office A Healthier Place.
* * *
Whether you are trying to encourage motivation and productivity in your company, or job satisfaction in your employees, making the office where everyone works into a more healthy environment can be very beneficial. In fact, there are several different tactics you can use. A topic you can find out more about in my post below.
A light and bright environment.
Studies show that human do less well in environments that are dark and dingy. What this means is that if you want your office to be a healthier space you really need to make it as light and bright as possible. Happily, there are multiple ways of doing this so even if you are stuck in the basement office you can still get a lighter and brighter feel.
One option is to maximize the amount of natural light that flows into the room. Something that can be done by installing additional windows, skylights, and even sun tubes which are channels that redirect natural light to areas without it.
Of course, if none of these things are an option then painting the wall white to reflect as much light as possible and installing natural looking artificial lights can help too. The same goes for lighter toned furniture and fittings.
You can even further enhance the look of your office by adding plants too. Something that can provide a much more green, and more oxygenated atmosphere to complement the light and airy space you have created.
Standing desks and office exercise equipment.
Next, there is a considerable trend towards standing, and variable height office desks at the moment and this is because it can help to break up all the sedentary sitting behavior that offices are so infamous for. In fact, standing for just a small portion of each day can reinvigorate your workforce, and health them to be healthier overall.
Additionally, adding in office exercise equipment like under desk cycles, posture ball seats, and even steppers can make a massive positive difference to employee health. This is because not only will employees gain the endorphin boost from working out, but it will ensure that the blood is being pumped around their system efficiently. Something that can help with concentration and performance as well as make them a lot happier in the workplace as well.
Outdoor working areas.
The next change that you can make around the office is to include some outdoor areas for your employees to use. I’m not just talking about a single picnic table for smokers or those eating lunch here either. Instead, why not consider installing some outdoor areas in which people can take their laptops and work, or even have meetings?
Break out areas outside can be fantastic for employee well being.
After all, getting outside into the sunlight and fresh air can have numerous health benefits such as increased vitamin D absorption. Not to mention that the opportunity to get away from their desk is bound to make most people at least 50% happier at work, with minimal effort.
Offering refreshment options.
Next, when it comes to healthy eating in the office, you can run into some issues. The problem is that you don’t want to end up prescribing what your employees can eat and drink. Oh, and the fact that if you ban caffeine, you may well just have a riot on your hands.
Happily, there is an alternative that can work wonder and its to use a company like Associated Coffee that will also deliver fresh, healthy and customized snacks to your business for your workers to consume. All along with your beverage order.
In fact, if you are feeling particularly generous, you can include such beverages and snacks options as part of the benefits that you offer to employees free of charge. Something that means not only will your workers be eating the right thing to stay healthy, happy, and productive at work, but you’ll get the extras credit and employee satisfaction associated with offering such an added bonus as well.
A nap zone.
OK, so a nap zone might sound as if its something for preschool or a nursery rather than a professional workplace, but that isn’t necessarily the case. In fact, studies have shown that short naps or medications where employees can relax their mind and think of something other than the problem they are working on can be incredibly effective.
Of course by providing things like nap pods and bean bag beds, as well as pillow and blankets your business will be recognized by your employer for its forward-thinking, and focus on wellbeing too. It really is a win-win.
Stay goodbye to open plan offices.
Open plan offices can be bad for employee wellbeing.
While many employers prefer an open plan set out, it is often the case that employees don’t. In fact, many people feel as if they are on show, or being watched. Something that, rather having a positive effect on employee morale and productivity, can damage it instead.
In fact, for some workers that rate highly on the introversion scale, an open plan office can be seriously damaging to their mental health. To that end, if you want your office to be a healthier place, it’s essential to have alternative working arrangements that are available to all employees.
Office wellness schemes.
Finally, you can also make your office a healthier space by devising and implementing particular wellness schemes. The idea of these is that they are small initiatives that can make a big difference to your employees’ physical and mental health.
In particular, many businesses find that it’s beneficial to offer yoga classes during the workday that are subsidized by the company. Something that cannot only help workers to beat stress but also help to protect them from strain and injuries that working at a desk in set position can cause as well.
Of course, there really is no limit to the type of things you can do in office well scheme from offering counseling and conflict resolution services, to providing blanks and earphones that allow people to get cozier at their desks. Just remember that as long as it promotes your workers emotional, physical, and mental health and they are onboard, then it’s probably a smart idea for creating a healthier office environment.
The first principle of my blog is Creating Ecosystems of success. Change is good throughout the year if you’re running a business or organization. Changing up the environment for the summertime may in fact increase the enthusiasm and productivity of your employees. The following contributed post is entitled, Fun Features For The Office This Summer.
The office is the heart of the workplace, and the way we decorate and fill our office can have a profound effect on the happiness of our employees on a day to day basis. A boring old office with a blue carpet is what no one wants in their workspace, which is why today we are taking a look at some fun features you can add to the office to make it feel more exciting and fun this year.
A garden bar
Let’s start with a super fun idea: a garden bar. If you have an office which is singular and has its own car park and outdoor space, it would be a shame not to make the most of the fresh air in the summertime. One amazing idea for a Friday lunch treat would be to use a utility cart and fill it with ingredients for cocktails, and have this ready outside whenever your employees want to make a quick tipple on a Friday. You can also buy a utility cart cover with your company logo on which will keep the cart dry and will also act as some fun free advertising if you ever take it out!
A herb garden
One of the things you could do with your employees this summer is give everyone a pot and compost each, and they can all plant a herb seed of their choice and watch as it grows. Not only will this make the outside of the office smell amazing, but it will also allow you to use the fresh herbs for fresh soups and salads in the kitchen!
A coffee bar
If you have a flexible and fun workplace and you are off the philosophy that trusting your employees is key, a coffee bar is a wonderful addition to the office. This can be the ideal escape for anyone who wants to work on a project alone or have a quick brainstorming session with others, and it will act as a more comfortable and informal place for them to work for a little while. It can be an amazing idea and one which will give your workers a change of scenery and pace during their working day.
Events
If you have a policy of fun in the office, a great way to promote local businesses and also bring your employees together is to have people visit the office every month with new products to try or services to provide. It could be cake pops, cocktails, yoga… there are a wealth of things you can offer and this will be a great chance for your employees to try something new and bond a little as a team.
An art wall
If there is a prominent wall in the office which everyone can see, you can send out an email for employees to bring in one piece of art to create a collage on the space. They might choose their own paintings, photographs, movie posters or something different entirely. It will brighten up the space and also allow your workers to get to know each other in a new way.
Two of the focuses of my blog are Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. When running a business, it’s important to understand when to change you physical location and to open a new office. Like most things, it requires the right timing. The following contributed post is thus entitled, Great Reasons To Open A New Office This Year.
If you are a small business owner who is working to grow their brand this year, there are so many different methods you can use to grow and expand your empire and make a success out of yourself in 2019. When it comes to working hard with your business and allowing it to grow, one of the things which can always be a good idea is to open up a new location. Whether you have an office open up in a different city or a different country, having an extra location for your brand can be a huge step up and super helpful for your brand. Here are some of the main reasons why it can be a good idea to open a new office this year.
Take advantage of exchange rates
There are a lot of big advantages to expanding your business beyond your own country, and one of the main ones which you may not have thought of is exchange rates. As we know, different countries hold different currency values and when you are looking to make a profit you can take advantage of this and gain a heavier profit by selling overseas. You can read here about offshoring and everything which it involves and it can be a big help for you if you want to grow rapidly this year.
Build a new audience
Of course, the main reason why it can be a great idea for you to grow your business and move to a new office is that you will be exposed to a whole new pool of people who you can target and sell to. When you reach a new part of the world it can always be a good thing to open up your brand and present it to new people. The more people who know about you, the more people are likely to follow you and buy from your business.
Extra income source
If you have enough money to invest in a new office for your business it is always an incredibly good idea for you to do it. The reason why it is such a good idea to do this is that with an office full of new people, you will have more people working hard day after day to get the job done and this means more workload can be covered. The domino effect of this is the fact that more products are made, more people are contacting and reached out to, and as a result more products are sold. Simply by having more people working for your business you will notice that you make a lot more profit.
Grow your influence
The main reason why companies like to expand and take over different areas of the world is to build a good reputation and in turn be able to show the world that they are to be trusted. As a business it is always going to be your prerogative to show the work what you’ve got and make a good impression. The more physical presence you have in the world, the more influence you can gain and therefore the more success you can have.
Two of the focuses of my blog are Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. At some point if and when you’re business becomes big enough, you may want to consider building your own office space. There are multiple steps involved which are discussed in the following contributed post which is entitled, Going Up In The World: Building A Multistory Office.
If launching your own empire has been a dream of yours for some time now, and you have taken the time to save up and prepare for this feat, one of the things which can be amazing is to build an office for yourself this year. 2019 has the potential to be your best year yet and it can be an amazing year to spend building your business and soaring high above the competition. Today we are going to take a look at some of the steps you will need to take to build an amazing office building for your business.
Test the land
When you are searching for the ideal plot of land for your office building you will likely think a lot about the location and the budget you have. One thing you may not think about is contaminated land and your ability to build on it safely. It is crucial to make sure that you test the land to make sure the soil is safe and this will allow you to build on the land without any worries.
Lay a great foundation
Building an office which is tall and sturdy is always going to be a challenge and you will need to really think about the logistics of a crane hire company for the higher levels and the materials you use for the site. The first thing though is to make sure that your foundation is solid and perfect for the job. Your foundation is the most important part of the building process and you should take your time to ensure it is absolutely perfect to ensure a stable structure later on.
Create light for the space
When designing an office building with an architect at your disposal it can be helpful for you to think about light in the space. The natural light you get inside the office is super important and it will have an impact on the productivity of your workers. Be sure to add as much light as you can to the office and you can do this with floor to ceiling windows for the ultimate modern effect. The light will penetrate your space all day long and this can actually cut down your need for switching the lights on. This can be a huge help for you when you are trying to save money and grow as a business.
Add facilities
A kitchen, some bathrooms, a communal space, a games room… these are all options for things you can add to your office to make it feel like a well rounded and happy building for all involved. As much as you want your employees to work when they are in your office, you also want to make the office feel like a home. Add fun elements and quiet spaces for people to escape to and your workers will appreciate you for it. If you really want to, you can have a small bar in the basement which you can use at 4 pm on a Friday for happy hour!
The first principle of my blog is Creating Ecosystems of Success. No matter what your line of work is, having a productive work environment is critical. In order to do this, you must consider what’s important to your employees. The following contributed post is thus entitled, Renovate Your Office For A More Productive Environment.
* * *
A productive environment is often the one thing a company lacks. Because it can either go one of two ways. It can either be super exciting and energetic, but with a lack of control that means employees rule the roost and do as they please, rather than it being a place of perfect balance. Or you get the offices that are just so boring and horrible to work in, that the lack of life leads to poor productivity. So when you have no clue how to really manage an office, and what you should be doing to make sure your employees are happy more than anything. Because if you want our first clue as to how to run an office, and how to make it super productive, you have to know that putting your employees happiness first, rather than ignoring it, is key. So, we want to show you how you can renovate your office to make it a place that harbours employees happiness, yet aims to be one of the most productive in the world.
Employee feedback is so important if you wish to create an environment that’s perfect for all. Because at the top of the food chain, you might not have all of the information, and you won’t know what it is like to have to sit through a day in your office. Well, you won’t know what it is like for your employees, anyway. They could give you a really constructive idea as to how they think the office should be, and what it might be lacking at the minute. They could even give you criticism as to how you can renovate your management. Sometimes the people you put in charge just aren’t right for the job, and you won’t truly realise that until you get an insight into the people working for them. Sometimes better people in management is all you need.
The Life & Soul
It has to have life and soul in it if you want to make sure your office environment thrives, and the best way to do that is to have a complete overhaul, and make everything bright and interesting. You could get van hire for the day so that you can take all of your old things out and to where they need to go, and bring in anything new. You could also hire a painter and decorator to make sure the place ends up just the way you need it. We recommend using bright colours and features to brighten the place up a little, and using things like indoor plants to lift the mood. They have been proven to bring spirit and life to a room!
What Feeds Creativity
To feed creativity, you need to have space for your employees to relax, recharge, and then face the rest of the day. Having a great social area where people can put their feet up during breaks is so important. We also think you should have things like mood boards to help your employees brainstorm any ideas as they go.
The first principle of my blog is Creating Ecosystems of Success, and two of its key focuses are Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. Many entrepreneurs must set up offices at home to carry out their operations, and this space can be critical for concentration and production. Some aspects will make your space more conducive to productivity. The following contributed post is therefore entitled, 3 Suggestions for Setting up a Home Office.
Whether you want to embark on an entrepreneurial path and chart your own professional destiny in life, as your own boss, or whether you just want a quiet place to sit, journal, and reflect — a home office is a fantastic and multi-dimensional gift to give yourself.
A good home office should be a place where you can shut out the concerns of the outside world, and invest yourself wholeheartedly in whatever endeavour you’re pursuing. It should be a self-enclosed dimension where you can pen that novel you’ve been working on, produce your blog posts for the next week, or even just read and absorb a book without any significant external distractions.
Of course, a good home office has certain traits. Here are some suggestions for getting your home office set up to a decent standard, in short order.
Your chair is your most important tool — choose one that you can bear to sit in for hours at a stretch
Adjustable standing desks can be a great addition to any office, since it’s good to alternate periods spent seated with periods spent on your feet and moving around, for overall health reasons. In reality, though, you are likely going to spend the vast majority of your time in your home office sitting down.
Your chair is, therefore, your most important home office tool. It has to be something that you can bear to sit in for hours at a stretch. Ideally, it will even be a pleasant experience, as much of your ability to do productive work, or absorb information, will rely on your not being simultaneously distracted by physical discomfort.
Address every aspect of what make for a good office chair. Make sure it’s well-padded. See that it has the best caster wheels for ease of movement. Check that the back support works for you.
Eliminate all distractions from the area, to the best of your ability
The famous author Stephen King has written that authors should “close the door” while working on their books — at least until the draft is ready for other eyes. In this context, he uses “close the door” both literally and figuratively, and advises aspiring authors to work in isolation, to filter out distractions, and to keep their work hidden from prying eyes during the early drafts.
Though this advice was intended for authors, it can be applied to anyone who writes, or has any sort of creative or thoughtful work to attend to, at all.
A distraction-free environment reduces procrastination, boosts productivity, and aids focus. Ensure your home office doesn’t feature TVs, videogames, or anything else of the sort.
Keep the space tidy — an organised desk (and office), means an organised mind
With the constant flow of information that we’re all exposed to, courtesy of the internet and other modern technologies, many of us suffer from chronically disordered thinking, and an inability to strategise and focus.
Keeping your home office space meticulously tidy can help to counteract this chronic low-level chaos, and aid clear thinking.
It seems to be the case, psychologically speaking, that when our immediate environments are messy, cluttered, chaotic and disordered, our thoughts come to be so as well. By contrast, an orderly, neat, and well-structured environment promotes focused and structured states of mind.
Two of the focuses of my blog are Financial Literacy/Money and Business/Entrepreneurship. As an entrepreneur working from home having quality office space is critical as it can help maximize your output. The following contributed post discusses creating the perfect home office space and in entitled, How To Create The Perfect Home Office Space.
If you’re an entrepreneur working from home then it is absolutely essential you have an office space that both inspires and motivates you to do your best work. Often people will work from whatever space they have available, but this can be damaging to your overall productivity and the level of work you produce.
With this in mind, here are 6 different ways to create the perfect home office space:
1. Use A Colour Scheme That You Like
If you’re able to decorate the room that you’re designating to be your office, decorating it in a colour scheme that you like will encourage you to spend more time there. There is nothing worse than sitting in a room that is poorly decorated, or that is designed in a way you absolutely hate. Not only does it have you worrying about if you’ll ever get around to renovating, but it puts a dampener on your whole mood.
2. Have Wall Art And Decorations That Inspire You
Accessorising your office is not a necessity, but it can definitely help inspire you on a day to day basis. The little touches you make will truly make the office yours, making it space you’re happy to be in for up to 8 hours a day. A popular way to decorate an office among entrepreneurs is to create a wall of different sized, motivational prints, something which looks incredible when done properly.
3. Ensure You Have A Large, Sturdy Desk
Having a desk is important in a home office, but ensuring its one that can take at least 8 hours of work each day is absolutely essential. There are lots of good desks available on the high street, but if you want to something that suits your working style, you could try creating your own our of various different materials including wood and steel.
Chances are that working from home will mean you’ll have lots of bits and pieces you’ll need to store. Whether they’re notes for conference calls, old invoices or stock and merchandise – storage space is incredibly important to the look and feel of your office as it means you’ll be able to keep everything neat and tidy. You know what they say, a tidy office makes for a tidy mind!
5. Have A White Board To Note Down Creative Ideas
You never know when inspiration may strike and although jotting down ideas in a notebook is perfect, having a whiteboard handy to plan out your ideas beforehand is a great way to encourage creativity. It can be used to put together lose plans that can in the future be turned into official notes in your notebooks, avoiding wasting paper and making your office an eco-friendly space!
Do you work from home? What key features do you have in your home office? Let me know in the comment section below?
Three key focuses of my blog are Career Discussions, Business/Entrepreneurship and Technology. With today’s technology, working and generating and income doesn’t always have to happen in the traditional office setting. In many instances it can be done independently and remotely. The following contributed post is thus entitled; Out Of The Office And Onto The Farm: A New Take On The Tech-Takeover.
* * *
In case you hadn’t realized, business has gone to the tech dogs. Nowadays, more of us than ever are working on the cloud and staring at computer screens. But, this isn’t a lifestyle we’re all happy with. For some, this ever-encroaching tech takeover is encouragement to take a step towards careers out of doors.
Let’s say you’re at the stage where the mere thought of another day in the office drives you wild. It’s past time to quit your job because you need a total change of scenery. The trouble is, you can’t think of a single outdoor-based career you’d be suited to. Everything you’ve ever done has been office based. Could someone like you ever make a go of things out and about?
Of course! You don’t need to entirely retrain to do so, either. In reality, you may be more qualified for outdoors jobs than you think. Keep reading to find out which positions would give you the best of both worlds.
Okay, you got us; remote work may well mean doing the same job. But, the benefit with this is that you can choose where you complete those tasks. Forget sitting and staring at office walls; you could work in the garden as often as you fancy. Even better, you may find your current position allows for this. If you’ve already taken the plunge and quit, don’t panic. There are plenty of remote opportunities out there. All you need to do is search for them. The chances are that the ideal role is ready and waiting for an applicant just like you. All without a jot of retraining!
Sales
Sales are also a fantastic option here. While large portions of this work would be computer-based, most sales people have to travel to clients. As such, you’re sure to spend vast amounts of time out of the office. By embarking on a sales job in something like agriculture, you would even get to spend time outside on various country farms. Companies like Hansen Agri-placement advertise all manner of jobs like these, as you’ll see if you visit their website. Even if you fancy staying on a more familiar footing, you can bet there are plenty of sales positions going. Hey; you could even walk between clients to make the most of your floating post.
Real estate
Real estate is not what most people think when they consider outdoorsy jobs. Still, the possibilities here might surprise you. Think about it; rural real estate is a prime market. And, a realtor’s day mainly consists of hosting property viewings. Put the two together, and you’ve got at least some time outside. Plus, your experience with computer programs means you’re well qualified for the office side of things. You would need to consider where you applied of course. A city-based company would be as useless for fresh air as your office life. But, applying in the right area is sure to bring just the breath of fresh air you’re after.
