My blog focuses on Health/Wellness. Our ears are critical organs to our quality of life. There are times when we will experience ear infections. The following contributed post is entitled, Ear Infections: Signs And Symptoms To Watch Out For.
* * *
There’s a lot you can do to take care of your ears. Keep them clean, make sure you don’t stick q-tips into them, exercise and diet, and make sure you keep the noise down. All of these elements will help you to maintain a good level of hearing health over the years.
But ears can get infected, just like any other part of the body. The tricky thing about ears, however, is that an ear infection can be very sneaky. You might not even know you have one until you’re in desperate need of some antibiotics.
As such, it’s good to know the signs and symptoms of ear infections. A one-off case of them here and there is fine, but if you regularly deal with issues like these, you may need to get your ears checked out.

Your Ears are Itchy
Itchy ears can be caused by a variety of things. A bit of sweat has rolled in, there’s a misplaced hair tickling something, or you’ve just randomly got an itch – all of these things happen!
But chronic itchy ears are a surefire sign something is a bit wrong. Get your ears checked out by a doctor to see if you’re also dealing with symptoms like excess ear wax or even discharge.
You’re Feeling Unbalanced
If you feel a bit dizzy when you stand up, or you feel a bit like you’re spinning when you move your head from side to side, it might not just be how tired you are or the fact that you’re a bit dehydrated.
Of course, make sure you drink enough water and get enough sleep, that’s always important. But you could also be dealing with an inner ear infection that’s affecting how well balanced you feel.
See an audiologist when you’re next available to, as you could be in need of balance disorder treatment here. Infections aside, if the crystals in your ear have become displaced, you could be dealing with this kind of vertigo for a long time to come.
Feeling Like Your Ears are Blocked
Ear blockages don’t necessarily feel like you’ve got something in there. Indeed, they don’t just happen during swimming or showering! They can feel a bit like your ears are heavy, or the area around your ears feel a bit stretched or swollen.
Even if you can’t see any physical signs, there could be an infection within the ear that’s to blame. And if you haven’t gotten any water trapped in your ears in the past 24 hours, it’s very unlikely that a dip in the pool or your regular morning shower is the culprit!
When you’ve got an ear infection, you might not know about it. Your ears might just be a bit itchy, or you feel like the wax is moving and you just need to wipe it out. In both cases, make sure you see a doctor if the problem keeps going on. Chronic itchiness and pressure should be taken seriously.
